Drywall & Plaster Repair in Cincinnati
Cracks, nail pops, water stains, holes and full sheetrock installation — repaired, finished and painted so the repair disappears instead of showing through.
Plaster is not drywall
A large share of Cincinnati homes — particularly in Covedale, Price Hill, Westwood and the older East Side neighbourhoods — have plaster walls over wood or metal lath, not modern drywall. Plaster is harder, more brittle, and fails differently. Filling a plaster crack with standard joint compound gives you a repair that cracks again within a season, which is why so many homeowners have the same crack returning year after year.
Plaster needs the loose material cut back, the lath bond checked, and a repair built up in layers with the right compound. It takes longer. It also stays fixed.
What we repair
- Settlement cracks — taped and reinforced, not just filled
- Nail pops and seam splits on drywall
- Water damage once the source is fixed
- Holes, from doorknob dents to full sheet replacement
- Ceiling repairs, including texture matching
- New sheetrock installation for additions and basement finishing
Finished to the level the job needs
Drywall finishing has levels, and the right one depends on what goes on top. A wall taking flat paint in a bedroom does not need the same finish as a hallway with raking light down it, where every imperfection shows. We finish to what the room and the lighting demand, then prime so you can see the result before the final coat.
When the wall is telling you something
Some cracks are cosmetic. Others are movement, moisture, or a failing lintel. We will say honestly if what we are looking at should be checked by a structural engineer before we cover it, rather than filling it and letting it return after we have been paid.
Where we work
Based on Leona Drive in Covedale, working across Cincinnati — the West Side especially, plus Hyde Park, Oakley, Over-the-Rhine, College Hill and the rest of the city. Full list on our service areas page.
Common questions
- Can you repair plaster, not just drywall?
- Yes, and much of Cincinnati's older housing needs exactly that.
- Why do my wall cracks keep coming back?
- Usually because they were filled rather than addressed. Settlement cracks need taping or reinforcing to stay fixed.
- Do you paint after repairing?
- Yes. We finish, prime and paint so the repair disappears rather than showing as a patch.
- Can you fix water damage?
- Yes, once the leak is fixed. We will tell you if the source is still active.
